Lauren Urquhart

As a dedicated yoga teacher, I am committed to providing safe and nurturing spaces for students, both psychologically and physically. My teaching philosophy emphasises honouring the roots of yoga with respect and seriousness while fostering a light-hearted and joyful atmosphere in practice. I believe in creating a balance between tradition and playfulness, allowing space for personal expression and exploration.

In addition to teaching yoga asana classes, I specialise in yoga humanities, focusing on decolonising yoga practices and addressing cultural appropriation. My work reflects a dedication to ensuring that yoga is approached with cultural awareness, ethical integrity, and respect for its traditions.

Tending to Grief

My work also extends into the realm of grief and loss. As the co-creator of Tending to Grief (Knots & Weavings), a grief retreat designed to support those navigating birth loss, unpregancy, and child loss, I integrate yoga, eco-therapy, and grief ritual techniques into a deeply compassionate and transformative experience. The retreat emphasises the liminal space of grief, offering participants opportunities for connection, reflection, and shared understanding. This work is inspired by the teachings of Francis Weller, Camille Sapa Barton, Adrienne Maree Brown, Sobonfu Somé, and my studies in eco-therapy and yoga philosophy.
