Loki DeJager
Born in Canada, Loki began her inner work at 18, when she lost her best friend at the hands of a drunk driver and not long after, was sexually assaulted by a man on a weekend pass from jail. The grief experienced due to these two profound incidents led Loki on a path of spiritual seeking, in pursuit of self realisation.
With a relentless determination to follow her heart, Loki travelled all the way to a village outside Calcutta in India, where she found comfort with small children whose smiles were brighter than the sun. She eventually married, moved to Australia and had two beautiful daughters of her own. At that point, life had become a place of comfort and financial stability… until the global financial crisis changed everything! Two miscarriages, divorce, and financial losses created massive challenges. At that time, she decided to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education, again taking comfort in the presence of children – a place where love is truly alive!
In the process of rebuilding her life, Loki leaned even more into the power of community and began joining Women’s Circles – some with a financial background, some purely for mutual support. Over a period of 3 years, Loki was trained in facilitating Women’s Circles, deeply listening, practising radical non-judgement and intentionally growing community and sisterhood.Loki has since added a Certificate 4 in Community Services and Counselling to her skill set, and supported families and youth in her community for the past decade. During this time, Loki has held many profound Women’s Circles at Krishna Village, in Murwillumbah and surrounds, and during Covid, online. An anchor that many remember fondly as a hub of care and community during a challenging time.
Krishna Village is honoured to welcome Loki back as a facilitator, coming “full circle” by passing on her skills and wisdom to other women, who will carry the torch of sisterhood into their own communities.
